Earth Day In Wallace

Hey, y'all -

Last April, we decided to get all of our friends together for the weekend in Wallace, Idaho, for a little change of scenery.  Hagen's friend Finley recently moved there, and there's a 6-bedroom house you can rent downtown for next to nothing, so everyone loaded up and brought their kids for a multi-family sleepover. It's a great place to play games and walk around downtown and hardly see a passing car.

We went on a hike on the Trail of the Coeur D'Alenes and Ms Katie brought along a trash bag and we all helped pick up garbage in honor of Earth Day.

Hagen has a habit of plopping down mid-hike when he doesn't feel like walking any more and going into this faux-meditative state where he yells "I'M A PEACEFUL YOGI." I'm sure Ghandi's mama wanted to nudge him with her foot every now and then, too.

We spent the late afternoon playing baseball slap in the middle of the street.

Laney whacked the heck out of the ball, and Hagen invented something new. I don't remember what.

The moms all challenged each other to foot races - except for Ms Julie who doesn't believe in exerting herself.

Mostly, this blog post is a shameless excuse to post this picture, where you can clearly see I beat the snot out of my friends in a road race. That day, you truly had the fastest mom in town.

Love,
Mom
