Hey y'all -
On Saturday morning, we went to the Alberton Easter Egg Hunt. The group that normally organizes the event decided at the last minute not to do it, so our group of Alberton mamas sprang to the rescue. Shea's mom got people to donate candy and prizes; we stuffed about 500 eggs at our house alone. Laney was a big help with the stuffing, even though she stopped every few eggs to ask, "What do you think THIS candy tastes like?" There was a great turn-out, and the event was a big success: all two minutes of it. Jen Fredette announced, "On your marks! Get set! GO!" and the kids were off and running. In a flash, all of the eggs had been picked up, and I laughed at the weeks of effort that went into pulling off those 120 seconds.
This was the first year that Laney didn't need or want any help. I was glad I brought along my long-range camera lens, because when Jen said "GO!" Laney was gone. She even kicked off her ruby slippers when she decided they were slowing her down.
Hagen was happy to collect the same three eggs over and over and move them from basket to basket.
Through some serious Easter wheeling and dealing, Laney came home with a pink bunny, a floral bear, a handful of carousel tokens and a Dora the Explorer bicycle with training wheels. Not bad for two minutes of madness.
Hagen came home with three Milky Way bars.
You were equally happy.
Love,
Mom
